With the new cleaning range the last section of the expansion project of the HUEBER Getriebebau GmbH was put into operation after exactly one year of planning and building in August 2009.

In the run-up to this decision for Kirn as the location for the new production hall there have been further investment possibilities that were thoroughly checked by the management. The decision to execute the expansion at the company’s location in Kirn is mainly connected with logistic aspects. Among others this major investment was possible by participation of the Krupke Holding GmbH who fully supports this strategic orientation of HUEBER Getriebebau GmbH.

At the beginning of August 2008 the Kirner architect's office Kuhn&Dermann was entrusted with the elaboration of planning for an expansion of the existing HUEBER Getriebebau GmbH. This expansion should consist of an assembly centre, including two heavy-duty cranes and a new painting facility as well as a warehouse and a new cleaning range. The challenge was to integrate the company owned estate and tenement into the concept in the best possible way. The result was the planning of an 850m² large assembly centre (BA1) as well as a 250m² large warehouse (BA2). The large crane capacity of totally more than 60 tons ensures that HUEBER can handle heavy-load gearboxes exceeding 50 tons/piece. The tenement was converted and offers today a foreman’s office, a changing room and sanitary facilities. It also offers further office capacities on the first floor. The estimated project cost have been one million euro for the construction work as well as one further half million euro for installations (like cranes, painting facility, storage racks, oil separator, etc.).

In the cases where it was possible and justifiable, orders have been placed at local companies. This circumstance made it possible to accelerate the whole project.

The financial framework of the project as well as the set schedule were kept. In March 2009 it was possible to start working in the new assembly centre after an only six months taking construction period. Particularly immediately a clearly noticeable gain in efficiency has taken place after the launch of the new painting facility and the new warehouse.

With the new assembly centre the processes and operational sequences existing so far could be straightened. In addition, new capacities for the repair and service department, and here in particular for the repair of wind-power plant gearboxes, were opened. These new capacities led in 2009 to an increase of the repair business around approx. 80% in the comparison to the previous year. This means a turnover of over one million euro in this department.

The HUEBER Getriebebau GmbH thanks the project team, the architect, every company taking part in the project as well as the responsible authorities for the successful realization of this expansion project.
